Swimming
Our camp is conveniently located right on the banks of the Frio River and campers have the opportunity to swim in the Frio River itself. We also have a pool with deck and a water-slide that is available for use from May-September.
Gaga Ball
Gaga ball is a fun and intense game that is popular as a club sport. It's played very similar to dodge ball, except there is only one ball, there are no teams, and the players are confined in an octagonal pit. Can you be the last one standing?
Crate Stacking
Attached to an auto-belay, one person attempts to stack crates and climb as high as possible, aided by a partner who tosses the crates up to be stacked. This heart-pounding experience will always end with a crash, but how high can you stack them before your come tumbling (gently) down?
Recreation Fields
We have tons of space to run around. Want to play Dodgeball? Soccer? Relay races? Messy games? Your imagination is the limit.
Basketball & Volleyball
Alto Frio has a large basketball court located centrally on the grounds, just beside the dining hall. We also have four sand volleyball courts that are available for groups to use.
Low Ropes & Team Building Initiatives
Low ropes and team building initiatives offer an opportunity for people to work together in groups to accomplish common goals and objectives as a team. By being challenged in a variety of ways with calculated activities and riddles, they will develop such invaluable skills as communication, trust, teamwork, leadership, creative thinking, problem solving, self-evaluation, conflict resolution, and decision-making. We have an outdoor course with various obstacles, as well as the ability to also do initiatives indoors if necessary.
Disc Golf
Throughout our campgrounds runs a technical 9-hole disc golf course. Disc golf is played with similar rules to standard golf, but with special frisbees instead of golf balls. Each "hole" is a round stand with chains to help catch the frisbees. It's a lot of fun for all ages!
